| | SCRIPT PREVIEW | | | Synopsis | | This program will introduce your audience to a whole new meaning behind the popular Christmas song. Have you viewed "The Twelve Days of Christmas" as strictly a secular song of lyrical nonsense? Well it isn't! Its hidden meaning is Christian instruction of the catechism, with each "gift" relating to some aspect of the Christian faith. The program's dialog explains that long ago adults prohibited from practicing religion taught their children key aspects of Christianity using the symbolism of gifts that my "true love" (God) gave to "me" (all believers). The song became a mnemonic device whereby a "partridge in a pear tree" stands for Jesus on the cross and "six geese a-laying" means the six days of creation. Includes an optional Advent craft activity of Christmas gift props and a new version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" based on the original religious meanings. |
