| | SCRIPT PREVIEW | | | Synopsis | | The sweet nostalgia of this program hearkens back to the simpler celebrations of yesteryear. In anticipation of their grandmother’s visit, children question their mother about what Christmas was like “back then.” They learn to make cranberry and popcorn strings, greeting card ornaments (“found art” and recycling before it was the norm), pine cone decorations and red-and-green paper chains. Amid a holiday too often focused on consumption, this program highlights the holidays of days gone by when the pace was a bit slower ... when making crafts, sharing memories, enjoying a home-cooked dinner and especially the Bible story from Luke 2 took priority over the gifts—a breath of fresh air! Features several songs, including “Deck the Halls” with new lyrics. Also contains instructions for making the handmade ornaments used in the script. Extra ornaments may be handed to the audience as a keepsake gift at the program’s conclusion. |
