| | SCRIPT PREVIEW | | | Synopsis | | Five short scenes interspersed with seemingly tailor-made song suggestions tell the complete story of Holy Week through the eyes of a widow and her young son. Josiah returns from a parade with a palm branch and, to the dismay of his mother, a dirty cloak – he placed it in King Jesus’ path. Then he comes home with a shekel from the melee at the temple with the money changers. Miriam grows concerned about Jesus and his influence on her son, but after hearing that Jesus healed her friend, she agrees to let Josiah go to the temple on Friday. She has second thoughts as the sky darkens and Jerusalem erupts in chaos – and then Josiah comes home with the sad news of Jesus’ death. Sunday changes everything when Jesus lives! A simple yet complete look at the most extraordinary week in history. Written to alleviate time constraints with a small cast and simple staging. |
